The table is smooth and sealed with a satin clear varnish which does not require any maintenance - just a damp cloth to keep clean. The extensions function easily, enabled by a snazzy telescopic mechanism which allows the extension to open from each end (independently if required). You can easily open and close these in less than a minute and are very sturdy when fully extended.
